Irish cheeses are now gaining recognition on the world stage. We are delighted to have on our proverbial doorstep two of the top cheese makers in Ireland. St. Tola’s is just up the road from the Lodge in Inagh, Co. Clare. As well as making a number of soft goat cheeses, they also produce a hard creamy, sweet/tangy tasting gouda as well as a firm feta style cheese. They seasonally add honey, chives or cranberries to their cheeses too. The Irish Cheese Awards selected St. Tola’s Ash Log as the Supreme Champion of Irish cheeses in 2013 and the World Cheese Awards selected it as the Best Irish Cheese.
Another goat cheese producer that we like and stock is is Bluebell Falls originally from Ennis, Co. Clare now located in Charleville, Co. Cork. They have a number of flavoured goat cheeses such as Honey, Garlic and Thyme Goat’s cheese and Pepper & Garlic Goat Cheese. They’ve won awards for both their fresh as well as flavoured cheeses.
