Doolin Cave is home to The Great Stalactite. Measuring almost seven metres in length, it is one of the largest free hanging stalactites in the world and the largest in the northern hemisphere. Surprisingly, it adheres to the cave’s ceiling through a section of calcite less than 0.3 metres square.
Whilst in the vicinity of Doolin a trip could be taken to the Doolin Crafts Gallery, which stocks a wide range of items and plays host to a restaurant that produces tasty, home-cooked meals.
Journey time from the Lodge at Doonbeg is approximately 45 minutes.
