The coastline of County Clare is dotted with small fishing villages. Doonbeg is one of them and just down the road from the Lodge. Local fisherman, Charlie Sexton who’s been fishing these coastal Atlantic waters for more than 25 years has been bringing fresh fish to our door for a number of years now. Dependent on what is caught on any given day, guests can be eating crab, lobster, sea bass, monkfish, hake, cod or rayfish that had been caught by Charlie that very morning. The Lodge’s symbiotic relationship with Charlie means that he will phone when returning from a fishing expedition and let Chef Heiko know what the catch of the day is so that fish can be picked as soon as Charlie arrives in to dock.
