Research
If (and only if) it is clear from the initial application form that there is a strong possibility of tracing your family further, our genealogists will carry out the relevant research on your behalf and present you with a written report of their findings.
The minimum fee for a research report is EUR200, although a typical research project will cost two or more times this amount. A fee will be agreed in advance in consultation with the client based on a fixed number of hours of research in specified sources on a particular family line or lines. If this initial research suggests that further progress is possible, the project can be extended by agreement between both parties. Unfortunately, an unsuccessful search is usually more time consuming than a successful one, but it is our policy not to recommend research unless there is a reasonable prospect of a successful outcome. Fees include charges payable for access to records in various repositories.
Tours
If it proves possible to identify an exact location in which the client's ancestors lived, and if that location is within striking distance of Doonbeg, then it may be possible to arrange an accompanied day trip from Doonbeg to the ancestral haunts. The trip would take in homesteads, cemeteries, schools, churches and other relevant locations. Maps for self-guided tours can also be provided.
Fees for tours depend on the distance from Doonbeg, the number of sites to be visited, whether a preliminary visit is necessary, and other factors. These fees will be agreed in advance between genealogist and client.
Fees for all services will be billed directly by the hotel.
