The Aran Islands consist of three individual islands: Inisheer, Inishmaan and Inishmore. Visible from Doonbeg on a clear day, they form an ideal destination for a day-trip away from our Five Star Hotel. Collectively they are one of the most recognisable aspects of Irish life and culture, but they all have individual characteristics and attractions that set each of them apart from the others Inisheer is home to a variety of nesting birds, Inishmaan has a diverse ecological make-up that courts the attention of botanists and wildlife lovers, and Inishmore is renowned for its examples of ancient stone forts and churches.
Ferry services leave for the islands from Doolin and the crossing takes under thirty minutes to Inisheer (the nearest island) and about an hour to Inishmore (the furthest island). Journey time to Doolin Pier from The Lodge at Doonbeg is approximately one hour.
